The Biennial Tours

The Biennial Tours is a series of free tours and guest programs that take place in August and September, 2019 in the framework of the 5th Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art. Citizens and guests of Ekaterinburg may choose from four destinations outside of the city and three destinations in the city.

This year’s program includes visits to the existing production facilities and landscape facilities (quarry, inactive factory area). You can also get acquainted with local art practices. The guides are active mediators of the Ural Biennial, who will tell you about the history of the project in the cities through which the routes pass and will enhance the stories of local guides. You can visit four cities of the Sverdlovsk region: Sysert, Asbest, Polevskoy, and Nizhny Tagil.

During the walking tours you can take a walk in Uralmash, the well-known city’s industrial area; remember the Biennial main projects of the past years during the tour of Ekaterinburg’s main avenue; and look at street art from the perspective of the main theme of the 5th Ural Biennial — “Immortality.”

The Biennial Tours program of the 5th Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Sverdlovsk Region.
